Well, hey there! I look forward to sharing my big news!
If you don’t know about me and my story, I will review you. My 17-year-old and senior in high school self started my business, Jacoby Duckworth Photography, four years ago. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph seniors, weddings, families, events, newborns, engagements, and so much more! I honestly never thought taking pictures of my best friend’s family would get me this far.
Since I started at SIU Carbondale, I scheduled sessions when I could and when I was home. I started off as a photography major, but I quickly realized in my freshman year that wasn’t the path I wanted to take. I enjoyed taking pictures on my own time and for pleasure, not what people told me to take. For me, taking picture of a tree isn’t the same as capturing a magical moment between two people. I still enjoyed taking pictures when I was home since it wasn’t frequent, but I was simply burnt out on photography.
That was until this morning.
Perhaps it was because I spent hours last night looking at some of my favorite photographers, but I was inspired. I have decided to take the second wind and run with it.
I’m the type of person that believes in many life theories. One — Things happen for a reason. Two — Life will give you signs. Three — If you want something bad enough with a positive attitude, it will happen. This morning, I got a sign. My “signs” are simply me waking up and realizing what is right and what I should do.
Today, I realized that I want to completely pursue engagements and wedding photography. Even more than that, I am excited to announce that I will introduce a new branch to Jacoby Duckworth Photography — Paws Life Photography. I will now be specializing in pet portraits.
This just combines my love for animals and art. And while I’m building my portfolio for you all, I will hopefully be finding a ton of furry friends their own homes! Volunteering for rescue shelters to find animals homes is something I plan to continue. A beautiful photograph can make the difference of life and death. It’s sad, but it’s true.
Also if you know me, I really aspire to live somewhere beautiful. At this point, I would love to live somewhere like Denver. That is the plan for now, but it does change a lot. Mountains would be great in general. If things go my way, I will be able to move somewhere great like that after I graduate and REALLY expand on my business! Of course, I’ll be using my major of advertising within my new and improved business.
I’m excited for what’s coming. Hope you all can cheer me on along the way.
Stay tuned.
Jacoby
